Just a few weeks ago many of us didn’t even know what WFH meant. Now, with so many now working from home, I wanted to share these ten important recommendations.
- Use a good, sturdy chair. Avoid the couch or other soft seat.
- Adjust seat height so that your arms are parallel with the ground.
- Place a pillow behind your lower back.
- Use an external mouse, and keep your phone and other supplies close by to avoid reaching and twisting.
- Keep your feet on the floor or other flat surface.
- Alternate between sitting and standing at least once an hour.
- Take a micro-break for at least two minutes every hour.
- Be careful not to overload electrical circuits with your devices.
- Beware of your cords – don’t create trip hazards for yourself or others.
- When work is done for the day, be sure your laptop and other equipment is in a safe place.
And the eleventh recommendation is always keep your sense of humor. If you are working at home alongside your spouse, crate an imaginary co-worker to blame for taking the last cup of coffee and not starting a new pot. At my house, we’re calling him Phil.
Thanks to my friends at Marsh for these suggestions.
